When he says the sweetest thing....

We were having our usual short chat after the lights were off... before going into slumberland.

Husby said something that really touched my heart.

H: U know Hun (short for Hunny), ... you will go to Jannah. (*Jannah is the Eternal Garden of Paradise)
Me: Why do you say so?
H: Because you are such a wonderful wife...

Awwwww.....I am pretty sure I slept smiling.

I love you.

BOX BISTRO @ COURTS

Ever since IKEA and Courts Megastore open in the east, we have been regular visitors. We always seem to have something to buy from IKEA  - that explains the house being more and more filled up over time.  Sometimes, it is just to sight-see and plan the next purchase .

A problem was always the runmbling stomachs. After much walking around, we naturally would look for food for the tum-tum.... but back then , there was only the IKEA 'food-court' and only one stall serves 'halal' food. ...

I know beggars can't be choosers but the food served is not very appetising.... I would always drool over food from the other stalls :P

But hey , now there is BOX BISTRO at Courts! Halal-certified!

We have heard very mixed reviews about the food here so the other day , we decided to explore them ourselves.

I love colours so this is definitely something in my favour!

Ok, we were pretty dumb here... I thought that was all on the menu. No drinks, no desserts.... until the waiter told us to turn it over. He must have sensed my dumbness :P

Since I ALWAYS get something spicy, I thought why not have a change? Decided on the Seafood Aglio while he ordered the Meatballs Spaghetti.

The service was pretty slow although we were only the third set of customers there. I practically finished half my glass of juice whilst waiting. Tsk Tsk...

This was a terribly bad choice (for me, at least). I found it oily and so bland that I just wanted to finish it up quickly so that I would not have to eat it anymore. Didn't want to waste money by abandoning it, see. BUt husby said it was alright so it could just be me who  prefer spicy food. (Don't take my words for it , then, if you can stomach non-spicy food)
I shamelessly wanted to exchange my dish with his. This was pretty good, the meatballs were of the almost perfect texture and the tangy tomato sauce with bits of chilli flakes made it better! But of course I didn't ask for a swtich... just had a bite and dreamt about it later!

And yes! Parents with kids can leave their kids here to enjoy your meals! ( of course, after your kids have had theirs...) The indoor playground has inviting and vibrant colours, and we've kinda checked it out, in case we wanna bring the nephew. Clean and safe :)

Although the food is not fantastic, it is not bad (definitely better than IKEA's!) and very reasonably-priced. So whenever you feel hungry when at Courts (or Ikea and Giant which are just nearby), at least , you have another option .

To Pontian!

And I am off to Pontian tomorrow.

There is a wedding on his side and we are setting off at (GULP) 7am!

Oh man....if there is no traffic jam and all, we will probably reach the place at 9am. That is really early for a wedding reception that starts at noon.....

On one hand, I am glad to be out of Singapore ...even if it is just for a tiny while.

On the other hand, I seriously do not fancy sitting in the passenger'seat throughout. Since he is driving, I have to stay awake and chat with him so that ..

1) he will not fall asleep. Long drives can make one sleepy!
2) He does not speed or drive recklessly. Somehow, Spore drivers tend to be less careful when they are in Malaysia. TSk tsk!

But I've never liked long journeys in cars. If I am in the back seat , I would just sleep and before I know it, we would have reached our destination. I sleep because otherwise, I will get a massive headache or feel a puking.

Yes, a very bad case of motion sickness.

Thus, I must make sure I buy some sour plums and sour skittles to keep me awake/not-giddy on the journey tomorrow.

HOpe it will be a fun day!

An eventful day!

I wanted to blog about husby's birthday by last weekend but I was just too lazy to seive through the photos.

Before the story gets too stale, I'd better put it down on record.

Like mentioned earlier, we had promised each other to cut down on birthday expenses and keep it simple this year.

After scrouging around for ideas , I decided on:

1) Marina SAnds Skypark - we could take lots of photos while admiring the claimed picturesque scenery.
2) Lunch @ Hyatt Hotel
3) Kite-Flying @ Marina Barrage

I was very happy with my plan because only the lunch will cost a bit...that meant I could buy more presents! :)

In the end, we had to do without the MS Skypark as our medical appt ended too late.... we just decided to go home and laze till it was time for lunch...

First present for the day

I wished I could have said I made the card myself

As soon as the  clock showed 11:30 am , we left. I didn't want to be late for lunch although it was supposed to be all the way till 3 pm.

Here we are!

Straits Kitchen @ Hyatt Hotel . I initially wanted to go for high tea but they don't serve that so lunch it was.

That was my fourth time there but I was still in awe of the intricate details in their interior design. First impressions really count - I am sure the hotel shares my sentiments.

The food served here is buffet-style and more of an Asian Fare - Chinese, Malay and Indian styles. We were more than satisfied with the quality of the food . They were tasty and definitely suitable for our Asian tastebuds.

Seriously, do come with an empty stomach should you decide to do lunch / dinner here!

To add on to the uniqueness, CHinese food is served with Chinese-designed cutlery and the same goes for the other two groups. The Indian cutlery was really beautiful but I didn't manage to snap any picture of them :(

FOOD!!!

Prawn mee. OMG. Beneath that dumpling,
is a HUMONGOUS prawn! YUmmmsss..

The ice-kacang was fantastic but would have
been great if I could conjure it up myself, rather
than be served.

I am failing in my memory but I think the lunch cost about $90 +++  for both . Again , you must secure your place a few days beforehand if you don't want to be turned away at the door. (Tel No: 6732 1234)

After lunch and prayers, we headed towards MArina Barrage. I was driving because he was not supposed to know where we were going. But I have never been to Marina Barrage before so I kept referring to the street directory I had on my lap.... Eventually, he ended up giving me the directions. Super fail!

Our mandatory annual gifts-presentation in
the car. This happens every year since
2006!  :P

The kite-flying activity was a very fun , relaxing and therapeutic event ...especially for a first timer like me! He was obviously rather experienced at it while I got excited, no matter where my kite went to... Haha! I would love to go again....

Lunch , 8 presents and kite-flying ...and we were still not done for the day!

Hehe... My husby and mum share the same birthday so we headed straight for the family's mini-celebration :)

It was an enjoyable 13th November for me .... hahhaa... I hope he enjoyed it too ! :)

Till the next birthday , baby .......

Carousel in Wonderland!

It was another afternoon at Carousel @ Royal Plaza on Scotts.

Seriously, I should get a VIP discount card or something... hehe... I've lost count how many times I have been there.

It was a good day for bestie and I to meet up and catch up on each other's life.  Bestie wanted to go for high tea and we like that place, anyway!

The hotel has done up the place for Christmas, I suppose, and they have taken on the theme inspired by "Alice in Wonderland". Very pretty!

I love the little details on the decorations

That's bestie getting the guy's number... NOT! :P

The features at the entrance were unique and
captivating that bestie had to drag me away
from them...

When we finally got in , I was (as usual), eager to start filling up my stomach. I was pretty hungry then as I purposely skipped breakfast and lunch..... hehhehe.... so that I can make my money worthwhile!

That was the view from where I sat. I wished
we had a private / corner table though. We were
right smacked in the middle of nowhere!

After talking a bit and making ourselves comfortable, it was FOOD TIME!!!!!

I really ate a lot that day. The food tasted soooooo good... but I think it was more because my stomach was very empty (this is not good though if you are looking after your weight).

I was definitely satisfied :)

Since it was a weekday , the meal costs lower than my previous time with husby. And if you have a Citibank or DBS/POSB credit/debit card, you get an additional 15% off!

In the end, we only paid $64 , inclusive of tax and service charges. It is really worth it to go on a weekday.

Anyway, high tea starts at 3:30 pm but be sure to book in advance ! 6589 7799

I wanna try Furamas and Fairmount's high teas next!
